USA - P. RINALDO BOCCALI (1929-2019)
Fr. Ronnie passed away this afternoon shortly after 12:00. This is the second time he had pneumonia in the past few months.
He was 89 years old and dedicated his life to our Institute, particularly to PIME in the United States.
Fr. Ronnie (Reinhold) was born in the canton of Zurich, Switzerland on December 29, 1929.
During World War Two he went to Milan, Italy where he got to know the Catholic faith and was baptized.
He entered the PIME Seminary and made his final promise to PIME on May 22, 1959. He was ordained a priest on June 11, 1960.
While in the Seminary, he studied at the School of Missionary Medicine and Surgery, at the University of Milano. He also did an internship there.
He was assigned to the United States Region, where he worked almost his entire life. He was teacher, vice-rector, spiritual director at the former Sts. Peter and Paul PIME Seminary in Newark, Ohio from 1961-1987. He was sent to England for a few years as rector of PIME’s house in Watford. He returned to the States in 1990 and became rector for the College Seminary program in the Detroit area before moving back to Newark Ohio to help with the running of the PIME Center (the high school closed in 1990).
When that property was sold to the diocese, Fr. Ronnie moved in to the local parish, St. Leonard in Heath, where he assisted there and at the other Catholic churches in the area. He was greatly loved by the parishioners for being down to earth.
In 2015, due to failing health he moved into an assisted living center until he transferred to Mother Angeline McCrory nursing center in Columbus. He passed away there on October 28, 2019.
Fr. Ronnie had a great love for gardening, for plants and animals, and for shopping for bargains. He is survived by a sister and nephews in Switzerland.
The funeral arrangements are as follows:
Visitation and vigil on Wednesday, November 6, 2019. At St. Leonard Church, 57 Dorsey Mill Road, Heath Ohio

Burial will take place on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery 25800 W. Ten Mile Road, Southfield Michigan, where the other members of our Institute are buried.
There will be a short period of visitation and prayer service in a chapel at the cemetery before the burial. The time for this has not yet been determined.
Please keep Fr. Ronnie in your prayers.
